Being a psychopath, they are attractive, appealing and charming. Everyone has once called someone a psychopath or one has even a friend with psychopathic behaviour. Research indicates that psychopathy results from a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
Why are psychopaths often in the leading careers? Why are they successful? What can we learn from them?
A study by Kevin Tuckett indicates, that the major difference between a psychopath and a normal person, is that psychopath has the empathy switch, which they can turn when they want. It’s naturally switched off. It’s the same with emotions.
Psychopaths know that emotions are bad for work, so they know how to manage their emotions and use their mindfulness the focus on the work.
Being here, being aware, being mindful. The ability to focus relentlessly, precisely directed thoughts/intent - provides the ultimate advantage for psychopaths in a world that is becoming more complex, faster by the minute.
Harvard's psychologist Ellen Langer - ‘If people are not in the present moment, then they cannot even recognize that they are not there.’
Separate behaviour from emotions and create awareness. We can ask ourselves those questions to distinguish our thoughts and bring them under control.
What if? ask yourself
What would I do if she /he didn't feel this way?
What would I do if I didn't care what other people think?
What would I do if it just didn't matter?
By replying to those questions, we can actually then know and recognize how we feel, and what is going on in our mind and use our awareness to undertake further steps.
